Welcome

Welcome to the Crazy Schenk Family - Indy Chapter.
When I say crazy, I mean busy, rowdy, rambunctious, fly by the seat of our pants crazy...not mentally insane....though some may beg to differ...LOL. We are a family with big hearts and a crazy love for each other, those God brings into our lives, God our Father and creator, and for Jesus Christ, our savior and friend.
I hope you find this blog site enjoyable. We welcome comments, feedback, and followers.

So, I left my partnership with Giggles Boutique and created a new business for my crochet items called Ten:31.
It is based on the scripture 1 Corinthians 10:31 that says "whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God".
20% of all sales will go to support All God's Children....a ministry that supports orphans around the world.

The Children's Museum

This year for Christmas my mom got us a family pass to the Children's Museum....BEST GIFT EVER!
We have been twice already and the plan is to go at least once a month. If we went as a family once a month and rode the carousel each time (which is included in the membership) it would cost $930. VERY much worth the $150 it costs.  The kids have a BLAST!  It is a good place to take them when they are driving me crazy and they can't play outside due to the weather. Plus they get to play, learn, and interact with new things every time.  I am SO happy for this gift.  I have posted a few photos below. I hope you enjoy.

Elegant Hair Designs

My hair business is starting to pick up and that is very exciting. I have high hopes for the future of  Elegant Hair Designs.  After much prayer and consideration, I decided that it was a waste of my time to keep pursuing other things.  This is the talent and passion God gave me and I need to use it.  I have 2 websites....one for the wedding side of my business and one for my in-home salon.  Check them both out if you would like and leave some feedback.

I have also talked with a lady at Shepherd Community, a Christian not-for-profit organization that offers food, clothing, shelter, childcare, tutoring, and more to no/low income families.  Once a month I am going to volunteer there and offer free haircuts. I thought this was just one way I can use my God-given talents to further the kingdom of Christ and show His love and compassion.

Salsa Dancing

I talked Steve into taking my salsa dancing with some friends of ours.  He was not excited about it at all, but did agree that we needed a fun night out, and I needed a reason to wear my new sexy black dress.  It was a good time and we were both glad we went.  he did tell me though that in the future if i want to go he is perfectly fine with me going without him for girls night.  It was not his cup of tea but I am thankful he sucked it up and gave it a try.

Christmas 2011

Christmas 2011 was non-traditional in every way.  First of all, money was extremely tight and we didn't even know if we were going to be able to provide Christmas gifts for the kids.  So right off the bat we were pretty bummed about Christmas. But, we tried to stay cheerful and hopeful.  Steve picked up some over time, so with that and the help of a couple of dear friends, we were able to buy Christmas presents.  Second of all, Steve had to work the entire weekend so we were going to have to wait until Monday to celebrate.....good thing my kids don't believe in Santa.  To top it all off, the entire family got the flu.  It started with me (Jennae) puking all Saturday morning.  Then E-Man came into my room throwing up that same day.  He and I were puke buddies that morning. We started feeling better by the afternoon so we got dressed and headed to Anderson for Christmas Eve dinner with the Lakey family (my mom's side of the family) .Then Hail Storm started in Saturday night....in the car of all places.  Not fun at all.  Sunday was a day of relaxation as we all tried to recoup from sickness.  Monday morning rolled around, we had our traditional breakfast of cinnamon rolls, read the Christmas story from the Bible and then opened presents.  It was a great day.....then evening rolled around and Peanut started getting sick.  She was up all night which meant it was only a matter of time before Steve got it....and sure enough he did on Tuesday.  Needless to say, we are all glad that is over with.  Below are some pictures from Christmas.

New Year

It's a new year with new beginnings.  One of those being this blog.  I am excited to have something a little less complicated to keep updated and hope to update it daily....or at the very least 3 times a week.

My biggest new years resolution is to be more Christ like. I struggle with this daily, but who doesn't?  In James 3:2 it says "We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check."  I know for certain I am not perfect and I have many areas in which I can learn, grow, and change.
Another resolution is be keep myself and my family more healthy.  Through better eating habits and regular exercise we will attempt to lose a few pounds, lower cholesterol, and be more fit and active.....all the while having close family time.
Another resolution is to start a small group in our home.  I would like to start off by doing Crazy Love by Frances Chan.  Once we learn how to truly love God then I want to do Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas so we can learn how to really love our spouse and thus draw us closer to God.
2012 should be a VERY good year!!
